Wyoming & Montana
Deer
(Mule Deer and Whitetail Deer)
This outfitter has
several different ranches in which quality animals are taken each year.
They lease in excess of 1/2 million acres between Wyoming and Montana.
The terrain on each ranch varies with large stands of Ponderosa Pine
that spills into steep crags and coulee's lined with deep sage and juniper.
Cottonwood creek bottoms are often the deer's favorite hang-out in early
morning and evening. Most hunts are done by glassing and careful stalking
which often results in an opportunity to collect a dream buck. Antelope
can also be combined with a Mule Deer on some ranches.
**Please see the different hunt packages listed below for a description
and pricing.
**This outfitter had a 96% success rate in the year 2009.

Nebraska Mule Deer
This outfitter offers
trophy hunts on 300,000 acres in the very unique setting of Nebraska's
Sandhills in Sheridan, Cherry and Garden Counties 30 miles south of
Gordon, NE. He operates two camps with comfortable accommodations. They
only harvest trophy deer to allow the younger deer to grow. Mule deer
are predominant here, but they also have some monster whitetails. Most
of the land is rolling hills, which makes spot-and-stalk hunting the
best way to take a deer. However, they also have food plots and tree
lines where they have located stands, so you will have ample opportunity
to take a deer, regardless of your physical capabilities. The rifle
season starts in the middle of November and runs for nine days through
the main rut for Nebraska. The archery season runs from mid-September
through the end of the year and hunting is done from ground blinds or
portable tree stands. Muzzleloader runs the entire month of December.
Airport – Fly into Rapid City, SD and drive 2 ½ hours to
camp.

Alberta Mule Deer
Peace River Region
This
outfitter is hunting an area that is hundreds of square miles of private
and public land in Northwestern Alberta in what is known as the Peace
River region. The western edge of the territory is the province of
British Columbia and the northern edge is the Peace River. The Peace
River region of Canada is perfect habitat. The lush woods, farmland
and high population of big game are what this area is known for.
Archery:

season and their antlers are in full velvet. This outfitter uses a
variety of tactics while hunting; spot and stalk, pushes and stand
hunting. You can expect shots in the 30-50 yard range, with the occasional
shot under 25 yards.
Rifle:
The rifle hunts take place in September 17th to November 30th with
the rut taking place in November. They drive and walk around farm
fields, sit at the field edges, and hike along the open Peace River
valleys spotting deer then putting on a stalk.
Location:
Just over an hour drive straight north of the city of Grande Prairie
and a 6 hour drive northwest of Edmonton. You can drive on paved roads
almost right to the doorstep; the last 2 miles is a good gravel road.

Wyoming High
Country
Trophy
Mule Deer
Grey’s River Area
This outfitter
is located in the famous Grey’s River Area of Northwestern Wyoming.
Monster Mule Deer is what this country is all about. The Grey’s
River area has been touted as the finest Mule Deer country in the west
and every year it lives up to that reputation. Look in the Boone and
Crocket record books and you will see that Lincoln County Wyoming produces
the big boys and they are smack dab in the middle of this fine county.
They use strong mountain horses to get you to the high country where
the big Mule Deer are. Each day, well before daylight, you will leave
the lodge with truck and trailer and head up to the trail for the days
hunt. Hunting will be done in alpine bowls, boulder fields and timber
areas often at 9,000 feet elevation. Good optics is required because
you will do a lot of glassing. This hunt requires the hunter to be in
shape and mentally ready for the rigors of the hunt. Success runs 50%
- 80% and they take about 16-20 hunter per year. Mule Deer will average
around 170 B.C. with some over 180 taken each year. The hunt takes place
in Region G and the drawing odds were 71% last year. One to two preference
points should draw.
