HUNT # 7

Come try our newest piece of Heaven on the famous Greys River of Western Wyoming. The Greys River area is without a doubt Wyoming's finest Trophy Mule Deer area. The country also contains outstanding hunting for Moose, Elk and Black Bears. The terrain is rugged and all hunts are on horseback, except the Spring Black Bear.

High country Mule Deer hunts can be demanding. Each day, well before daylight, we leave the lodge with trucks and horse trailor and head up the trail for the day's hunt. We will be hunting alpine bowls, boulder fields and timber areas often at 9,000 feet elevation.Quality binoculars and spotting scopes are a must as the majority of each day is spent glassing. This hunt requires the hunter to be in shape and mentally ready for the rigors of the hunt. 2005 Mule Deer license draw odds were 53%. We recommend enrolling in the New Preference Point Sytem to obtain this tag quicker.

The Greys River country also offers some outstanding opportunties to harvest an elk. The season opens October 15th, which is after the Deer season, so the guides have done plenty of scouting well ahead of the Elk season. We do not hunt as high for Elk so it's not quite as physical as the Mule Deer hunting but still a good idea to prepare. The day will be split between horse back riding to different areas and glassing the country looking for the elusive Wapiti. This country has produced its share of quality Bull Elk. The licens draw odds for 2005 were 78%. Once again we encourage you to take advantage of the New Preference Point System.

The Greys River country is also home to a very healthy population of Shiras Moose. The season for Moose opens September 15th and runs through October. This area produces good Bulls each year. We will leave camp by horseback and spend the day in the field glassing and working the areas that hold these solitary animals. The 2005 license draw for those close to the top of the point pile was 100%. Hunters with 8,7 and 6 points should draw this license for 2006. 25% of the available license quota is reserved for hunters not at the top of the point system.

Wyoming's premier Black Bear area is the Greys River country. The best thing about this hunt is the majority of Bears taken in the past from this camp are color phase Bears. In addition to the various color phases these Bears are big Bears with large heads. The baits are placed in early spring and then constantly re-supplied to keep the Bears interest. We do not use horses for this hunt during the spring season, as we can walk into each bait site. On most years we will start hunting on the 15th of May and go until around June 10th. License are purchased on arrival.

Hunters will be staying at the Lodge on all of these hunts. The main lodge consists of individual sleeping cabins with private baths, propane heat and light. First class meals are served family style, all meals and logding are included in the price of the hunt. This is the only Lodge on the Greys River.

Hunters will arrive the afternoon before the hunt starts and leave the morning after your hunt concludes. Fly into Jackson, WY rent a vehicle or hire a local taxi service for the drive to the lodge. It's a very easy drive to the lodge. Clients are provided with a map and instructions
