Colorado Elk
Ranching for Wildlife PropertiesThis outfitter manages two ranches totaling 150,000 acres of private land located six miles north of Craig, Colorado. There are high numbers of elk on the ranches. Success has run 85-90% over the past few years. The ranching for wildlife program allows the outfitter to set up his own season dates from September 1st to December 31st. This allows the outfitter to hunt the rut in mid-September and the late season migration to the winter range, which is located on these properties. Most bulls taken are 5x5 and 6x6 with some bigger ones taken each season. The hunts are conducted as spot / stalk or by horseback. The late hunts may also use vehicle. Elevation ranges from 6,500 to 10,000 feet.

New Mexico Elk
Gila National Forest
This outfitter offers quality
Elk hunts in over three million acres of public and private land in
southwest New Mexico. They base their operations out of a lodge which
is a working cattle ranch covering 100 square miles in and around the
Gila National Forest. They have been in business for 25 years. They
hunt only the top trophy areas in New Mexico. They offer tent camps,
lodge and cabin hunts and also wilderness hunts. The type of hunt depends
on what you are looking for. Archery Elk hunts start in September when
the elk are bugling. They are experienced callers and they use the very
latest calling techniques. They live in a dry climate and use treestands
when the conditions are right. Rifle Elk hunts are in October. Muzzleloader
elk hunts are also available. They try to harvest only 5x5 and 6x6 bulls.
Spike bulls have never been legal, which helps maintain the trophy quality.
This hunt has produced quite a few bulls grossing 330 B.C. and plenty
more at 300 or just under. They are in a drawing area for elk. The outfitter
will take care of all applications to eliminate the hassle for you and
apply you for the best drawing odds in quality areas. New Mexico Dept.
of Game and Fish offers an applicant three different hunt choices when
applying. An applicant can mix dates and weapon choices to better their
odds of drawing. Hunts are conducted with one guide for two hunters.
Food and lodging are included. You can fly to Albuquerque and rent a
car. 1x1 hunts add $1,000.00 *Application Deadline is April 9, 2008 Landowner Tags and

Wyoming Elk
This ranch is truly a western classic. The ranch encompasses in excess of 100,000 acres, on which this outfitter holds an exclusive lease to the private property. The terrain varies from vast expanses of sagebrush draws and coulees, to rimrock ledges, juniper canyons, patches of aspen and thick stands of pines. The resident herd of Elk range between 700 - 900 head. This is not an easy tag to draw but if you are successful in drawing a tag then the opportunity to take a mature bull is virtually assured. Bulls will average 300 B.C. with some bigger ones taken.
*Horses will be used to cover more territory to maximize your hunting opportunity.
**This outfitters success in 2006 and 2007 ran 100%.
The New Wyoming Preference Point System
will guarantee this tag for those who participates. This benefits
non-resident hunters. We strongly recommend you enroll in this program.
