Alaska Coastal Black
Bear
Prince William Sound
This outfitter is proud to offer one of a kind hunts in pristine Prince
William Sound. This is a boat based hunt from a 50' yacht which has
3-state-rooms, 2-bathrooms, full professional galley and a large lounge
area which can accommodate 4 clients comfortably.
Hunts are conducted in the spring and fall. Spring hunts are from motorized
skiffs and generally you will spot the bears right from the skiff. The
stalk will usually be no more than 100-200 yards and sometimes less
than that. Occasionally you will sit and watch a particular grass-flat
the last couple hours of daylight waiting for a bear to come out to
feed on the sedge grasses. The fall hunts are conducted during the month
of September when there are literally millions of salmon choking the
streams of Prince William Sound. This super-high protein food source
draws in some of the largest black bears in the world. Typically you
will see the highest number of bears on this hunt. Ranges are short
and shot opportunities are numerous. This is an intense hunt mentally
as you will have bears breathing down your neck every day.
Clients fly scheduled air to Valdez and are met by the outfitter at
the Best Western Valdez. No charter costs.
*2007 Season
– 24 hunters
took 23 Black Bears
(1
client missed and wounded)
Hunters averaged 22 separate bears sighted per day per hunter. The average
size harvested was 18.5" skulls and 6.5' squared hides with a few
over 19" skulls and 7' hides.
As always only large males with perfect hides were killed.

British Columbia
North Coastal Black Bear
This outfitter has a 4,000 square mile area along the Pacific coastline
of British Columbia that produces huge bears. He offers spring and fall
hunts. The first type of hunt that is offered is from a 40 foot boat
where you will cruise over 400 miles of the Pacific Coastline. Hunters
will take a skiff to the shoreline to make the final approach on the
feeding bears. Salmon, king crab and prawns are caught on a daily basis.
The fall hunt is similar to the spring. Hunters cruise the inlets and
fjords to hunt the many salmon rivers in the area. You may walk or jet
boat the many rivers and creeks in search of the trophy black bears.
This is a very exciting hunt with many close encounters, great for bow
hunters. Another hunt offered is a lodge based hunt located on the Skeena
River. This is a spot / stalk hunt where hunters will walk the many
logging roads and glass the green valleys and mountains slopes for these
big bruins. Expect to see a lot of bears on these trips.
Hunters fly to Terrace, BC.

Newfoundland Black Bear
Come and discover the pristine wilderness of Newfoundland. This outfitter
is located in the heart of one of the most remote hunting areas in Newfoundland.
This is a family run operation and they pride themselves in the fact
that they are the owners, guides and cooks which provide the best
possible personalized service to their guests. They operate six different
camps. Some of the camps are only accessible by plane or helicopter.
The bear hunts are carried out next to the boundary of Gros Morne Park
which has some of the biggest and most abundant Black Bear in Newfoundland.
The spring hunts are baited with stands approximately three miles apart
and have been put in with the bow hunter in mind which will be extremely
beneficial for the rifle hunter. Guides will have constant radio contact
with the hunter. The fall hunt is more of a spot / stalk hunt and is
usually combined with another animal. The average bear will be 300-350
lbs with some bigger ones taken each season. They will also combine
the bear hunt with fishing for Brook Trout and Atlantic Salmon.
